James Newberry

James has worked with professional services firms of all sizes, shapes, and cultures for more than 20 years, providing stimulating and purposeful inputs that have helped teams and individuals improve their behavioural and revenue/business performance. His experience also includes working for organisations in marketing, mail/distribution and wider business services.

He set up People Scope in 1993 and leads the firm. He is a sessional lecturer in the Business School at Canterbury Christ Church University, a member of the CIPD, and has an MBA from Cranfield.

Christine Livingston

Christine Livingston is a professional coach and Organisation Development consultant. She works with individuals, teams and organisations, providing the psychological expertise, smart frameworks, thoughtful content, and engaging conversations that foster mental clarity and enable significant results.

She has considerable experience of coaching partners in the law and other professions. Christine is a Fellow of the CIPD, has an Honours Degree in Psychology, and advanced diplomas in Human Resource Management, Executive Coaching, and Counselling.


Philip Harlow

Philip has over 20 years experience in consultancy, with an exclusive emphasis on client-supplier relationships in a business-to-business environment. Outside of professional services and his work for law, accountancy and other firms, he has worked in a variety of market sectors, particularly in retail and wholesale distribution. He delivers training programmes for lawyers, accountants and consultants in business development and client relationship management. Philip is a Director of Nourish Sales Ltd. and has an MBA from the University of Westminster.


David Fox

David is an experienced human resource and management expert with considerable expertise in coaching and training senior professionals in large law, accounting and other professional firms. This experience includes executive coaching, management and leadership training, and change management programmes. He has an MBA from Cape Town University.


Steve Cowden

Steve is a senior commercial lawyer with over 30 years’ experience working for some of the UK’s largest public companies. Steve retired from Reed Elsevier, the business information publisher in 2011, after 10 years as General Counsel and Company Secretary. Prior to this he worked in the pharmaceutical industry for over 20 years, latterly as Group Company Secretary of Glaxo Wellcome plc and before that in a similar role with SmithKline Beecham plc.

He is currently a Non-Executive Director/Trustee of the Defence Medical Welfare Service and a Non-Executive Director and Trustee of the SmithKline Beecham Senior Executive Pension Scheme. For People Scope, Steve brings extensive experience of the client-side viewpoint to training and development interventions.
